It can be easy to feel frustrated by a host of things, big and small, that happen or don't happen every day.

Someone cuts you off in traffic.

A slow person blocks the aisle in the grocery store.

A baby near you won't stop screaming.

A rainstorm interrupts your vacation.

The Power of Momentum

Do you ever have days when you’re trying to get something done but keep telling yourself things like:

“Okay, I’ll start after I read one more blog post.”

“I’m just going to scroll through a couple more things on my Newsfeed.”

“It’s 1:21.  At 1:30, I’ll get back to work.”

“I’m almost done with this chapter / episode / article of my newest book / Netflix show / magazine.”

“After I eat a snack, I’ll be more focused.”

I find myself using these rationalizations all the time.  And they seem productive because I feel like I’m giving myself a little break, which will set me up for success.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from running a music production and motivational speaking company is how to create the conditions necessary for success.  But it took years of frustration to figure it out.

And every time you look at it, you might get that sinking feeling of, “I have too much to do and it won’t all get done.”

Your brain might then fill in, “And you will be fired, your loved ones will leave you, and you will die.”

No wonder we feel so much stress and pressure when we look at the tasks on our to-do list.  Our brain is telling us, “Do these things or die alone!”
